McTiernan produced the made for television movies The Right to Remain Silent in 1996 and Quicksilver Highway in 1997 and the film Amanda in 1996. He produced and directed the movie The 13th Warrior in 1999 and directed the film The Thomas Crown Affair in 1999. He produced and directed the movie Rollerball in 2002 and directed the film Basic in 2003. John McTiernan was incarcerated in federal prison for charges including perjury and lying to an FBI investigator and he declared bankruptcy in October 2014. In his filing he claimed to have $6 million in debt and annual earnings of around $300,000 mostly from film residuals. He and his wife owned a sprawling property in Wyoming that was seized by a bank during the foreclosure process.
