Holes was published in 1998 and ranked #6 on the School Library Journal’s list of children’s novels. Sachar’s Wayside School series includes the books Sideways Stories from Wayside School, Wayside School is Falling Down, Sideways Arithmetic From Wayside School, More Sideways Arithmetic From Wayside School, and Wayside School Gets A Little Stranger. He has also authored the Marvin Redpost series and several standalone works including Johnny’s in the Basement.
